LEGISLATIVE

The City of Country Club Hills operates under the Mayor/Council form of government, pursuant to Chapter 65 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, with a City Manager established by Ordinance. Until 1993, the City was divided into four wards. The population growth recorded in the 1990 census necessitated the addition of a ward with two additional Aldermen. Two Aldermen, now, represent each of five wards.

The Aldermen represent the policy-making branch of local government and are responsible for enacting all legislation for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City. In furtherance of these responsibilities, the Council meets weekly, alternating regular (voting) meetings with administrative (discussion) meetings. Aldermen serve on one of nine committees: Finance; Law, Ordinance and Government Operations; Planning, Zoning and Development; Public Works and Utilities; Economic Development; Contract Compliance; Special Education; Insurance and Risk Management; Community and Park Activities.
