The prime function of the Country Club Hills Police Department is the preservation of public peace and order, prevention and detection of crime, apprehension of offenders and protection of persons and property.  It must uphold the Constitution of the United States, enforce the laws of the State of Illinois and ordinances of the City of Country Club Hills.

The Police Department is separated into four divisions:

Patrol- The Patrol Division provides emergency response to criminal and quasi-criminal complaints and activities, response to nuisance and ordinance violations, response to service calls of a non-criminal nature as well as enforcement of traffic laws.  In addition, Community Service Officers assist in service calls for disabled vehicles, vehicle lockouts and stray dogs.

Investigations- The Investigations Division provides follow-up investigation services on criminal and quasi-criminal matters, as well as crime scene processing and evidence collection.  Investigations also conducts liquor license investigations, background checks and drug investigations and maintains a sex offender registry.

Community Oriented Policing- is a direct link between the residents and the police.  The Division develops strong lines of communication with the entire city to improve the quality of life in neighborhoods. This is achieved through community meetings and by providing crime prevention programs to residents and businesses of the city.  It assists and guides residents in setting up homeowners’ associations, block clubs and neighborhood watch groups in the community.  The division works very closely with all the schools in the city, centering on programs such as Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), Katy Kangaroo, bicycle safety, etc.  Many programs are also brought into the neighborhoods through the use of the police substation.

Tele-Communications Center (TCC) and Records- respond to telephone and walk-in requests from the public and other law enforcement agencies, radio traffic and all emergency calls.  The TCC responds to requests for Law Enforcement Agency Data Systems (LEADS) information from the police officers and other agencies.  The TCC provides an orderly and efficient records system.  Finally, the TCC utilizes the E-9-1-1 Emergency Response system and dispatches all emergency calls to both the Police and Fire Departments.
