FIRE DEPARTMENT

Non-Emergency: (708) 798-3270

Emergency:  9-1-1

The Fire Department is an emergency public safety department and a part of the city responsible for fire prevention, fire inspections, public safety and education, fire suppression and emergency medical services.

The Country Club Hills Fire Department operates from the central location of 4350 West 183rd street and can be reached at 798-3270 for all NON-EMERGENCY issues.  FOR EMERGENCIES, CALL 911.

FIRE SUPPRESSION

The Fire Department has a total of 34 firefighters.  All are trained in Fire Suppression, Vehicle Operations and certified as Firefighters in the State of Illinois.  Nine are career firefighters, including a full-time Chief.

Training does not just stop at the level of firefighter, as there are numerous special certifications and classifications and classes available.  Many of our fighters have continued with their education in order to ensure the best service and latest technique in fire suppression to residents.

There currently are two “Class A” fire engines which hold 750 gallons of water and carry the latest equipment available.  There is also a 75 foot aerial ladder truck in service.  Other vehicles are a 4-wheel drive Suburban and two autos used by the staff for fire ground activities and support functions.

FIRE PREVENTION

The Fire Prevention Program is an ongoing activity throughout the year.  We are all aware that it is easier to prevent fires instead of trying to control them.  Fires do not take a vacation, rest on holidays to celebrate, are not aware of ages and will strike at anytime and anywhere.  To ensure that everyone is aware of fire prevention, you are encouraged to contact the Fire Department Office for information and programs available.

AMBULANCE SERVICE

The Country Club Hills Fire Department was the first Paramedic Unit in the South Cook County System to be serving their community, since the inception of the paramedic program.  The residents of the City can rely on immediate and competent emergency care from the staff of the fire department within minutes of receipt of a 911 Dispatch.

They have two Advanced Life Support ambulances in service which are staffed by a combined crew of nine career and thirteen Paid On Call Paramedics, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.  The personnel are proud of their commitment to serve and continually attend training sessions to maintain and improve their skills and education.

HOME SAFETY

Is your home equipped with an early warning device for fires as well as carbon monoxide?  Do you have an escape plan in case of fire?  Over  70% of fires occur in homes during nighttime hours when people are sleeping.  Carbon monoxide can build up at anytime due to faulty heat producing appliances.  People are usually overcome by deadly gases before fire gets to them and carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that can be deadly.

Often, when fire breaks out, you have seconds to get out of the building and should never return for any reason.  Home fire escape planning is vital and can save you and your loved ones once fire has been detected.  For help in home fire escape planning, contact the Fire Department.
